Lens exchange and ICL
Over time, the eye’s natural lens can lose clarity and flexibility, eventually leading to cataracts. This occurs when proteins in the lens begin to thicken and cluster, leading to cloudy or blurred vision. Lens exchange surgery addresses this issue by replacing the natural lens with an advanced synthetic lens. This procedure is one of the most commonly performed eye surgeries worldwide.
Lens exchange differs from ICL implantation. With ICL, the natural lens remains in place, and a synthetic contact lens is added to improve vision. Both procedures can provide long-lasting visual clarity, depending on the patient’s condition and goals.
