Welcome!

Hello and thank you for taking the time to visit my website. I’m Dr. Ebbie Soroudi, founder, and medical director of the Soroudi Advanced Lasik & Eye Centers. In this site, I’ve tried to make it easy (and fun) for you to learn a great deal about what could be affecting your eyes, and what we can do to help you. I promise you that being here is the first step toward one of the best decisions you’ve made in your life.

I’m astutely aware that your eyes are your most precious possessions, and choosing a surgeon to care for them requires a great deal of trust in his/her skills, technology, experience, training, and track record.

This is precisely why I’ve put together the absolute best in every aspect of diagnostic and surgical technology, personnel, and tools in either one of my centers to get you the best results humanly possible. I implore you to do your own research, you will not find better technology anywhere…

So if you’re suffering from poor vision, if you’re just sick and tired of the burden of having to wear glasses or contact lenses every day, or if you’re suffering from droopy eyelids/bags under your eyes, our entire team is at your service, and we promise to care for your eyes as if they were our own!

Looking forward to meeting you in person soon.

Sincerely,

Diplomat of The American Board of Ophthamology

Keratoconus Treatments

Strengthens corneal tissue using riboflavin (vitamin B2) and UV light to keep it from progressing.

Dr. Soroudi combines this treatment with topography-guided PRK to not just stabilize your progression, but to improve your vision at the same time, as crosslinking does not improve vision by itself.

Does not reverse damage but prevents further weakening.

FDA-approved and widely used worldwide.

Customized laser treatment based on corneal surface mapping.

Treats extremely irregular corneas and higher-order aberrations.

Can also be used after previous refractive surgery, injury, or LASIK-induced Ectasia

Dr. Soroudi is one of a handful of specialists who combines this treatment with Collagen Crosslinking (at the same session) to improve your vision AND stabilize it so your eyes don't continue to progress.

Corrects vision by implanting an artificial lens over your natural crystalline lens OR replacing it with an artificial lens

Ideal for patients not eligible for LASIK or PRK.

Can treat high levels of nearsightedness or farsightedness AND astigmatism.

Provides sharp, stable, and long-term vision correction.

Replaces severely damaged, scarred or diseased corneal tissue.

Used for advanced keratoconus, scarring, or corneal failure.

Modern techniques allow faster healing and better outcomes.

Dr. Soroudi even treats previously transplanted Corneas with PRK to eliminate your dependence on glasses or contacts!

Uses tiny corneal implants to reshape and stabilize the cornea.

Commonly used for keratoconus and irregular corneas.

Can improve vision and reduce dependence on contacts.

Minimally invasive and reversible if needed.

Soroudi, MD, MS

Clinical Instructor of Ophthalmology: UCLA Stein Eye Institute Member: World College of Refractive Surgery, American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery, International Society of Refractive Surgery, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.

Dr. Soroudi is an internationally recognized, board-certified, subspecialty-trained Ophthalmologist who specializes in all aspects of vision corrective surgery, ophthalmic surgery, as well as eyelid plastic surgery. Having personally performed more than 30,000 successful LASIK procedures, another 30,000 successful Cataract/Lens Exchange procedures, 5000 Pterygium/Conjunctival Surgeries, 500 Keratoconus Procedures (including Corneal Transplants), and over 5000 eyelid procedures (among other laser surgeries for Diabetics & Glaucoma), Dr. Soroudi is recognized as one of the most experienced, meticulous, and highly respected experts in his fields of specialty.

Dr. Soroudi completed his undergraduate studies in Biomedical Engineering and graduated near the top of his class with magna cum laude honors from USC, which is considered one of the most prestigious engineering programs in the world. Here, he received the coveted Howard Hughes Award for his research in gene therapy.

He obtained his Master of Science Degree in Physiological Science from UCLA in only one year (two-year program) and published his thesis on his research studying the utility of Radiofrequency technology to remove tumors in the human orbit at the Oculoplastic Division of the Stein Eye Institute.

Dr. Soroudi went on to the prestigious University of California, Irvine School of Medicine to obtain his Medical Degree. Here, he was awarded a fellowship by the U.S. Government to conduct research in ocular gene therapy at the world-famous National Eye Institute (National Institutes of Health/NIH) in Maryland. His research here may someday be able to cure severe genetic eye disease, such as Retinitis Pigmentosa and even Macular Degeneration.

After graduating medical school, Dr. Soroudi obtained extensive surgical training at the Los Angeles County Hospital in East Los Angeles as a General Surgery Intern.

Dr. Soroudi spent a year at the Division of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at UCLA where he pursued his research interests in thyroid-related (Graves’) orbital disease and clinical interests in complex eyelid surgery under the tutelage of his mentor, Professors Robert Alan Goldberg, past president of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Soroudi’s findings here have been published multiple times in the prestigious Journal of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Soroudi also completed a Corneal Fellowship under the tutelage of Professors James Salz, past president of the International Society of Refractive Surgery, and Dr. Yaron Rabinowitz, a world experts in treating Keratoconus. Here, he sub-specialized in performing all-laser LASIK (which was a brand new technology at the time), Flapless LASIK/PRK, Corneal Transplantation Surgery, as well as implanting Intacs corneal implants to treat irregular astigmatism (Keratoconus).

Prior to starting private practice, Dr. Soroudi had the honor and privilege of spending a year working alongside and learning from his old mentor, Professor Samuel Masket, past president of the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery. Here we had the opportunity to become an expert in performing complex Cataract & Lens Replacement Surgery from literally one of the best, most famous Cataract Surgeons in the world.

Dr. Soroudi has authored a book titled “Advanced Refractive Surgery,” and has published multiple research papers in respected peer-reviewed scientific journals. He has invented and holds three U.S. Patents on the technology used to make “self-heating” compresses designed to treat Styes/Chalazia and other common eyelid conditions (Blepharitis & Chronic Dry Eyes). This product, called “Eye-press,” is sold over-the-counter nationwide at more than 10,000 pharmacies, including CVS. Dr. Soroudi has also patented the utility of Hydrocolloid Adhesive technology for the treatment of Sties. This product, called “Stye-press” is also coming to CVS, Walgreens & Rite Aid nationwide in the near future.

Dr. Soroudi has obtained another two patents on a technology that allows for the formulation of “SPF Eye Drops.” These drops, called UVista, are artificial tears designed to protect human eyes from UV radiation of the sun and are ideal for people who spend a considerable amount of time working/playing outside in hot climates (e.g., athletes (surfers)). They could potentially prevent the development of Pterygia (“Surfer Eyes”), ingrowth of blood vessels into the Cornea causing chronic redness, as well as certain kinds of Cataracts & Even worsening Macular Degeneration. This product is currently being developed and will be available over-the-counter nationally and internationally.

Dr. Soroudi serves as volunteer Clinical Instructor of Ophthalmology at UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute, and he continues to be involved in research and teaching. He speaks fluent Farsi and Spanish and is semi-fluent in Italian. In his rare spare time, he enjoys riding horses and playing polo.

World-Class Corneal Surgery
by Dr. Soroudi

The shape of our eyelids is one of the most important elements of our facial features. Done right, cosmetic eyelid surgery can take years off your appearance and give you a much more beautiful, youthful face without making you look like "someone else..."
